The burden of these racist policies and policing on indigenous communities has unfortunately received little attention to date.
Remnants of colonialism and racism remain embedded in the UN drug control system to this day.
The resulting international drug control regime subsequently sought to eradicate traditional practices with flagrant disregard for the human rights of indigenous peoples.
