On Friday, the Miami Marlins organization announced Ng as the team’s new general manager.
Not only is she the first female GM in Major League Baseball, but she’s also the first Asian American GM, and she is beyond deserving of the title.
She has more than 30 years of experience in the front offices of major league baseball organizations with the Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and, most recently, in the MLB’s commissioner’s office.
“I entered Major League Baseball as an intern and, after decades of determination, it is the honor of my career to lead the Miami Marlins as their next general manager,” she wrote.
A woman never has been the general manager of a major American professional sports team period until Kim Ng was hired by the Miami Marlins today.
