Community ContentSeveral community organizations recently gave the city of Malden a passing grade for improvements to Chinese-speaking voters’ access to the ballot.

Community groups released a new voting rights report card used to evaluate cities that are covered under language access provisions of the Voting Rights Act.

Since 2016, Malden has been covered for Chinese language assistance under Section 203 of the federal Voting Rights Act.

The new voting rights report card will help communities determine whether cities are in compliance with the law.

The advisory coalition of community groups includes GMAACC, CPA, Asian Outreach Unit at GBLS, Massachusetts Voter Table and the Asian Community Development Corporation.
