It’s something I think a lot of Asian-Americans have felt or experienced in recent times: our belonging is conditional.
Being raised in a Caucasian family, in a Caucasian town, I felt like I had to ignore my Chinese identity.
In other groups, I wasn’t Chinese enough.
It goes back to that idea: “You Can’t Stop Us.”
It’s a goal to keep me on track, but also a way to show that I’m still living my life and no one can’t stop me from doing that.
