A recent Independent Budget Office analysis confirms that the mayor’s proposal would increase the share of blacks and Hispanics in specialized high schools from under 10% to 46%, and reduce the share of Asians from 61% to 31%.

About 1,200 Asian students who would have been admitted in any one year based on their test scores would be rejected, with admission granted to an equal number of black and Hispanic students.
