There’s a reason why people in parts of Asia, Africa, eastern Europe and the Caribbean were waving Black Lives Matter banners at the start of this summer.
So I’d argue that the issues raised by the Black Lives Matter movement aren’t new, and they aren’t localised.
As far as I can tell, attitudes towards Black Lives Matter and the ‘culture wars’ more generally are more ambivalent.

So the ongoing ‘culture wars’ are not only about Black Lives Matter: that movement has sparked off other important lines of enquiry.
