That’s how insidious racism, anti-Blackness, and xenophobia are.

Neighbourhoods and schools across America remain so deeply segregated that 75% of white people in America don’t have a single friend of colour.

For me, that’s the South Asian community, which is steeped in anti-Blackness, and that’s the one I have the most chance of influencing.

Like my mum had to when I was growing up, I will have to teach him about racism and anti-Blackness.

Perhaps as an immigrant, non-Black person of colour, this could be my greatest legacy and contribution to this country.
