CLOSEA man who stole from his employer, a South County marijuana business, and later attacked a fellow Monterey County Jail inmate was sentenced Thursday, prosecutors say.
Nataniala Uta, 42, pleaded no contest to felony burglary and felony assault likely to cause great bodily injury, said Robin Duffy, deputy district attorney with the Monterey County DA’s office, in a press release.
Prosecutors had alleged that in July 2019, Uta became angry about a “personnel matter” and driven to his employer, a cannabis business in the South County.
He used a crowbar to pry open the door and steal marijuana and a new laptop, Duffy said.
