The new PBS series “Asian Americans” is an angry five hours, and properly so.
Narrated by Daniel Dae Kim and Tamlyn Tomita, “Asian Americans” is being broadcast nationally on PBS, timed for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, but it’s very Bay Area-centric.
I particularly enjoyed the disparate World War II experiences of the Japanese American Uno family and the Korean American Ahn family.
“Asian Americans” is mostly inspiring for its spirit of activism, which can be felt in these times as Asian Americans become targets of racism over the coronavirus pandemic.
“I personally found it’s a way to define my loyalty (to America), by speaking up.”M“Asian Americans”: Documentary series.
